About the Blog
We’ve all been there and done that; life is full of hell. But as Christians we have someone [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] and somewhere [Heaven] we can turn with trust and assurance that in the end it’s all going to be okay. We don’t have to pretend to have it all together. Most likely, if you can admit it, you’re a mess – just like me.
I believe that God is and can be found in all things and at all times. As a people, we’re ridiculously weak and give up so many opportunities throughout each day to experience Him in ourselves, others, and His creation. My ultimate goal is to [re]awaken you to the constant reality of Jesus Christ living in relationship with each of us, everyday, all the time.
I am Christian. But I’m also Catholic. I have a past but I don’t live there. I simply choose to repent, forgive, & learn from it. Those falls and heartaches that taught me so much are entirely too rich to leave abandoned in a box in the basement. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am. Neither would I be able to offer you all the wisdom that comes from making foolish mistakes.
And though I’m Catholic, it doesn’t mean that I expect you to be. I spent some time as a Protestant myself and know all too well that searching for God is a lifelong journey. The Modern Zealot blog will address life from my POV but that doesn’t mean my sole goal is to convert you.
I don’t care what religion you are (if you even have one), what you look like, how many piercings (or tats) you have, where you come from, or what you’ve done.
You belong here – even if you don’t like everything I have to say.
I believe if you’re really searching for God, you’re going to find Him – just keep your cards open and on the table. Let God lead and move you to where He wants you. You may not feel called to Catholicism, or even Christianity – that’s okay. Though the search can be painful, it’s a journey, and I promise you’ll be happiest in His love because no one knows better than the potter what the clay is meant for.
FYI: I do not claim perfection in any sense of the word; I do not have it all figured out and I don’t not count myself your judge. Your life and your choices are between you and God – nothing more, nothing less.
That being said, I will speak the truth.
I plan to live life to the fullest, and in the fullest grace that I can. In Christ alone I count myself holy and a saint. As I grow, I’m going to allow you in on what I learn – always including music, stories, and perspective.
So…pull up your favorite cozy chair, a cup of coffee, and a pair of headphones. You can learn more about me or start with my full story here. If you’re curious, you can follow up with reasons why I chose Catholicism. And if you’d like to move into a personal relationship with Christ, you can find out what that means here or read a prayer here You can also catch up with my other posts under ‘blog’ along the top bar. Please, please, please respond in the comments box below my posts! While this is my blog and contains my thoughts, it’s all about life centered on Christ, and life in Christ is about community. God created us for collaboration (even if we don’t agree) because it is together in Him we grow.
